Night of the Moth is the tenth major update for Fallout 76. It features The Mothman Equinox seasonal event, as well as several quality of life changes, including Pip-Boy color settings, legendary loot sharing, and area looting. It was preceded by Fallout Worlds and was followed by Invaders from Beyond.

- Seasonal event: The Mothman Equinox
- Pip-Boy colors - the color of both the screen and flashlight may be customized via RGB sliders in the settings menu.[1]
- Atomic Shop Utility - ammo and components may now appear as daily free items, seasonal rewards, or purchaseable content.
- Contextual ammo - some containers now have a chance to drop the ammo used by the equipped weapon.[2]
- Public event improvements[3]
- Potential rewards - inspecting a public event on the paper map will now display an overview of the rewards on the pop-up interface.
- Quality of life
- Area looting - nearby corpses may be looted simultaneously or browsed as tabs in the inventory menu.[4]
- Legendary loot sharing - legendary enemies will drop their loot for all nearby players, regardless of whether or not they (or their nearby teammates) had inflicted damage.
- XP sharing - if a player performs a solo kill on an enemy, nearby teammates receive an amount of XP equal to 50% of what they would have earned had they damaged it.
- Keyring - keys are now compiled into a single keyring.
- Workshop "new" tab - recently purchased or unlocked workshop objects will display in the "NEW" tab.

Behind the scenes[]
The update was originally going to be called Tales from the Stars and have the Invaders from Beyond event, although the event was pushed back and made into its own update. It was also going to feature 4-star legendary crafting and pets for C.A.M.P.s which have been pushed back into an unknown update.

- ↑ The Pip-Boy color slider is a localized setting only. Other players will only see their chosen color.
- ↑ Containers which normally have the ability to spawn any ammo type will now have a greater chance to match the ammo type of the equipped weapon. If players are using a weapon for which they are too low of a level to normally find the ammo, they will now have a chance to find the ammo in various containers. This effect is weighted by the player's current level. Lower level players will have a greater chance at finding ammo, while the high level players will have the lowest odds.
- ↑ Public Event durations have been normalized to 10 minutes (this addresses the long-duration-between-events issue). Tea Time no longer spawns ants, defense objects buffed. Radiation Rumble duration reduced, defense NPCs buffed. etc.
- ↑ "TRANSFER" is replaced with "NEARBY CORPSES" on the quick menu.
- ↑ (00635070) - New loot box item. 25% chance to give both apparels. Gives 1-2 mothman eggs and 5% chance at perfect egg. Gives regular old lootbox goodies. Looks like mothman cult backpack.
