Camp counselor Nia is a wendigo encountered in Appalachia.

Background

Nia is a former counselor for the Pioneer Scouts. She knew Layla McAdams and Ronnie McAdams. She did not initially believe Layla's stories about the monsters. Nia began seeing strange things in the stars and when Ronnie vanished, Nia began to reconsider what Layla told her. Nia followed the night sky alone on an expedition to find out what was happening.

She was somehow transformed into a normal wendigo, though still wears the remains of her Pioneer Scouts uniform and hat. She appears to have turned to cannibalism, sustaining herself by eating the campers while out of sight of the other counselors.

Behind the scenes

When Wild Appalachia was released, Nia was planned to have her own variation of the Campfire Tales event to narrate, but this was left unused. Triggered by gathering a makeshift telescope, mysterious lens, or astronomy books, her story would involve searching for the missing campers and encountering the Flatwoods monster, which would serve as the event boss.

When the Invaders from Beyond update released three years later, Nia was given her own holotape and the Flatwoods monsters now appear.
