Natalia Dubrovhsky (VID 208-206-49-229)[1] is an inhabitant of Vault 13 in 2161 and one of the three pre-made player characters available during character creation at the beginning of Fallout. She is designed to offer a stealthy means, as opposed to the combative and diplomatic approaches used by Max Stone and Albert Cole respectively, to resolve the central conflict of the game: the Master.
Background[]
Natalia is the granddaughter of a Russian diplomat employed at the Soviet Union Consulate in Los Angeles, who was granted a spot in Vault 13. She is very intelligent, resourceful, and possessed of excellent coordination and reflexes, as a very talented acrobat. She is very interested in leaving the Vault to explore the outside world. Her only potential difficulty might be a problem with understanding personal property laws, a noted issue in her childhood.[1][Non-game 1]
Notes[]
All non-player characters using the default appearance for females have Natalia's likeness, as their hairstyles are similar.
Appearances[]
Natalia Dubrovhsky appears only in Fallout.
Behind the scenes[]
According to Fallout creator Timothy Cain, it was understood within the game's team that Vault 13 operated a lottery system that eventually chose either Natalia Dubhrovsky, Max Stone or Albert Cole. It was also discussed that the lottery selection was actually rigged by certain parties that wanted the three out of the Vault. In Natalia's case, it was her trait as a thief who had stolen from the unnamed party, that prompted such parties to remove her from the Vault.[Non-game 2]
