Mutation Invasion is the fifteenth major update for Fallout 76. It was released on February 28, 2023. It was preceded by Nuka-World on Tour and was followed by Once in a Blue Moon.

- Season 12: Rip Daring and the Cryptid Hunt
- Mutated public events:
- Mutations from Daily Ops come to public events. These mutated public events provide the same rewards as unmutated ones, plus a new reward type: mutated packages, which function similarly to mole miner pails with the chance to obtain rare plans, serums and legendary weapons.
- If at least three Fallout 1st members are present at the mutated public event, mutated party packs will be given instead, containing extra rewards.
- From February 28 to March 21, mutated public events will appear every hour, on the hour. Afterwards, they will return for a week at a time at the top of the hour for a week straight.
- Public events for the remainder of the hour are unmutated.
- Mutations from Daily Ops come to public events. These mutated public events provide the same rewards as unmutated ones, plus a new reward type: mutated packages, which function similarly to mole miner pails with the chance to obtain rare plans, serums and legendary weapons.

- New mutation: Reflective Skin (enemies periodically reflect back damage dealt to them)
- New enemy type: Aliens
- New locations: Charleston Capitol Building, Garrahan Mining Headquarters, Morgantown High School

Behind the scenes[]
During the first round of the Public Test Server for this update, another type of reward was available from Mutated Public Events. Infusion reagents were used to create infusions, a new consumable item. On the second round of testing, infusions were removed from the update and implementation of them was delayed indefinitely.
