Milly,

How I've yearned for the verdant camaraderie of a fellow botanical soul. Your absence brings a drought upon my dreary days.

I have a tale to share with you, though, my dear sister. Recently, I was recruited by my fellow survivors to discern edible flora from the fallout. Not long after, I encountered a most peculiar prickly specimen--spiny, bulbous, and seemingly fruit-bearing. Expecting a cactus pear, I cleaved it open... only to be met by an eye staring back at me... That's right, dear sister, a buckeye!

In my zeal, I impaled my thumb upon its thorny husk and, through gritted teeth, declared, "This is no buckeye, it's a prickeye!"

My companions erupted in mirth. They still laugh, even as I write to you. I remain perplexed that childish wordplay around the prickly nature of the specimen would prove so humorous to them. Ha! The working class, so charmingly simple!

Even still, to help warn others of its prickly and puncturous nature, I shall deem this find "the Prickeye." What a refreshingly apt and unassuming name, I'm sure you agree.

I shall dispatch this missive to you posthaste, dear Milly. I hope the summer home has fared better than we have.
