Mole rat disease is a potentially permanent effect the player character obtains if bitten by an infected mole rat in Vault 81.

Characteristics[]

The effect is -10 Max HP to the Sole Survivor. During the quest Hole in the Wall, one will obtain the only dose of the cure available. If the player character has contracted the disease, they must choose between curing themselves or Austin Engill, an infected child.

Notes[]

  • On PC, the condition can be removed by spawning an additional cure via console command player.additem 00055f10, by directly removing the effect via player.dispel 00249690, or by removing all current buffs and debuffs using player.dispelallspells. A Vault 81 Molerat Disease perk is displayed in the Pip-Boy, but this perk has no effect. To remove the perk, use player.removeperk 0023aec1.
    • Alternatively, one can throw away the cure while mid dialogue, choose the option to give the cure away while not carrying it, pick it up and use it. This will allow one to cure both the player character and Austin.

Appearances[]

Mole rat disease appears only in Fallout 4.
