The mole miner network is a series of three unmarked locations in the Savage Divide region of Appalachia in Fallout 76.
All three are situated in the northern Savage Divide, near the Palace of the Winding Path. All three are exterior areas for a blocked-off mole miner tunnel network, which has seemingly caved in. In the Fallout 76 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide, they are listed as "Mole Miners' Camp",[1] "Mole Miner Network (North)"[2] and "Mole Miner Network (South)".[3] The three locations can be distinguished by large trash bonfires filled with debris, which are found at each point of the network.
Layout[]
Mole miners' camp[]
To access this location, head south from the gazebos on the water outside the Palace of the Winding Path, past the archery targets. The campsite is in a fenced-in area, where the connecting path terminates in the wilderness past a coal deposit.
Previously, this location was inhabited by mole miners, but as of the Wastelanders update, the mole miners have been cleared out and the campsite is now occupied by two Crater Raiders. Facing the south, there is a large bonfire around a trash pile surrounded by some debris. Up the hill, there is an encampment located in a shaded rocky overhang. Four bone chimes hang from the ceiling of the overhang. There are three metal shelves up against the rock wall, on which various junk items can be found, as well as two potential apparel and weapon spawns. A patch of brain fungus grows on the rock wall.
To the south, three dead mole miners are in a pool of blood, and the raiders at this location may occasionally perform an animation of searching their bodies. There is also a makeshift bench across from the corpses. Nearby, there is a blocked-off, inaccessible entrance to what appears to be a mine, with two explosives crates nearby. Four empty birdcages are also found at this location.
Far above the mole miners' camp, on an elevated rock formation to the south, there is a skeleton in a dress, sitting in a chair near a lamp, a gramophone and a teddy bear.
Mole miner network (north)[]
The northern tunnel is a small mine exterior with a blocked entrance, found southeast of the Palace of the Winding Path. A couple mole miners and mole rats can appear here, though bloatflies may also spawn instead. Four birdcages are found on a series of wooden platforms surrounding the exterior of the mine tunnel entrance. Can chimes and bone charms also hang from the rocky cliffs in the area. Various junk items litter the area, as well as miner hats and an explosives crate. The entrance to the tunnel is caved in by rocks; one can only enter a small part of it, where a shelf holds some more junk items, before being impeded by the rocks from proceeding further. There is also a bonfire with trash and debris outside the tunnel.
To the north of the tunnel and the rocks, there is a small, makeshift, wooden lookout tower occupied by a scavenger. The tower holds a sleeping bag, ammo box and another explosives crate. Various corpses are impaled on skewers surrounding the tower.
Mole miner network (south)[]
The southern entrance is the smallest of the three parts of the network. It is closest to Monongah power substation MZ-01, being found slightly northwest of it and under some rocky cliffs. Here, there are two more birdcages, another explosives crate, and another lit bonfire of metallic debris. Uniquely, there is also a wooden plank bridge that leads to a small rock's outcrop. Various junk items are strewn about, and may even spill down the hill into the nearby woods. Like the northern tunnel, there is also a can chime and bone chime flanking the tunnel entrance, which is similarly caved in. Like the previous section, the player can briefly enter a part of the tunnel where there is a shelf, before being blocked off by the rocks and terrain.
Appearances[]
The mole miner network appears only in Fallout 76.
