Mole miners are creatures found in Appalachia in 2102.
Background
Prisoners in their decaying mining clothes, the mole miners are the formerly human workers and miners of various mines in Appalachia.
Having mutated because of radiation or the Scorched Plague, or perhaps both, they would appear to have been infused in some way with mole rat DNA (a fact perhaps supported by the teeth of mole rats found among their loot drops, and their perfect friendship with them).
They are frenzied and beefy fighters who will attack anything they perceive as a threat.
Characteristics
Biology
Once human, the mole miners have, in one way or another, degenerated into creatures with curved and sturdy limbs.
Their degeneration was accompanied by a loss of vocalization; their language and communication is limited to grunts, groans and throaty calls.
They seem clearly endowed with great strength, since they are perfectly capable of handling heavy weapons such as missile launchers or shotguns with one hand and great precision.
Gameplay attributes
They are in large groups and are often found near mines.
Mole miners often live in organized groups and are usually led by a foreman. They are immediately hostile to anyone who approaches them, except the mole rats that they share friendly relations with, to the point that they can fight opponents together to gain an advantage.
They often mobilize against their target with weapons of great damage such as shotguns or missile launchers. They can easily and quickly mow down low-level players.
They are mainly located in mining areas in small or large groups although they can be seen everywhere.
