Might Makes Right (previously known in the PTS as Proving Grounds) is a main quest in Fallout 76, introduced in the Burning Springs update. It is the second quest in the storyline involving the region known as Burning Springs.
Quick walkthrough[]
- Go to Highway Town
- Speak with Millstone at the Last Resort bar
- Enter the maintenance closet at Highway Town and speak to Runt
- Complete three "Test of Might" challenges
- Return to Runt in the Highway Town maintenance closet
- Complete four "Test of Dominance" challenges
- Return to the Highway Town maintenance closet and speak to Eugene
Detailed walkthrough[]
Travel to Highway Town. Find the elevator in the middle of the town's exterior, and take it up to the town's interior section. Take a right, and head east until you find the Last Resort bar. Ask the barman, Millstone, about Runt, and he will direct the player character to Runt's office, on the other end of the town. Exit the bar, walk back towards and then slightly past the elevator, take the stairs, and enter Runt's office: the maintenance closet.
Talk to Runt. He will provide the player character with several tasks needing completion to prove one's worth to the Rust King. These tasks, his "tests of might," are listed among the game's challenges, under the Burning Springs category. Complete at least three out of the following:
- Cripple fifteen limbs
- Complete a Grunt Hunt
- Kill and cook a radhog alpha
- Kill an Ogua
- Kill five enemies using explosive weapons
After completing three tests of might, return to Runt. Yet unconvinced that the player character is not just very lucky, Runt dispenses another set of challenges. Complete at least four of the following "tests of dominance":
- Get 30 critical hits in V.A.T.S.
- Kill five legendary enemies
- Kill fifteen enemies using fire damage
- Kill 30 Rust raiders
- Kill a deathclaw using its weak spot (the belly)
After completing four tests of dominance, once again return to Runt. Upon entering his maintenance closet, Runt is found dead on the floor, with Eugene nearby. Talk to Eugene, who, apparently able to escape from the Rust Kingdom through sheer luck, proposes taking down the Rust King. After expressing interest in his plan, this completes the quest, and starts Insurrection.

This quest was previously titled "Proving Grounds" in early versions of the Public Test Server. It was changed to its final name with PTS version 0.2.1924.0.
Bugs[]
After completing the quest, the next quest, Insurrection, does not trigger and thus Eugene can no longer be spoken to in order to continue the questline. Additionally, restarting the game may cause him to disappear entirely from the game.[verification needed]
Some of the challenges may be marked as completed, advancing the quest forward even when they were not completed.[verification needed]
