“Founded eighty years ago, the NCR is now comprised of the states of Shady, Los Angeles, Maxson, Hub, and Dayglow.”— NCR history holodisk
Maxson is one of the five states comprising the New California Republic within the territory of New California.
Background[]
In 2189, the state of Maxson elected to join together alongside the states of Shady, Boneyard, the Hub, and Dayglow to form the New California Republic.[1] Maxson itself is located in proximity to the Lost Hills bunker, where it is primarily protected by the Brotherhood of Steel.[2]
Appearances[]
The state of Maxson is mentioned in Fallout 2, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas.
Behind the scenes[]
The state is mentioned in the Fallout Bible, where it's said that Maxson was named after the Brotherhood's founder Roger Maxson, and that the Lost Hills bunker itself was not incorporated alongside Maxson into the NCR.[Non-game 1]

- ↑ Fallout Bible 6: "2. How was the Brotherhood of Steel involved with NCR after the destruction of the Enclave?
Unknown. Presumably, they'd already established some level of co-existence with NCR even before the events of F1, judging by one of the states of NCR being dubbed "Maxson" (more on that in a future update except to say that the Lost Hills Bunker was NOT turned into a town in NCR) and considering their pre-existing ties to the Hub, which became a state by the time of F2. I've always imagined that NCR and BOS have maintained an uneasy truce, with barter and (some) technology sharing between the two groups."
