Maud's Muggers are a roving gang of elderly women in matching pink spring dresses and wielding rolling pins while terrorizing Freeside. Nothing is known about the gang's history including how or when they formed.
Interactions with the player character[]
If Wild Wasteland is an active trait, upon exiting Cerulean Robotics for the first time (likely after recruiting Fisto during Wang Dang Atomic Tango), the player character will be accosted by the three women in the gang who appear from behind the building and attempt to kill them.
Notes[]
A fourth member of the gang, Catty Clara, is found in the game files but was cut from the final release.
With the Wild Wasteland trait, drunks and locals in Freeside will sometimes mention the group, talking about their crimes and warning the Courier to watch out for them.[1][2]
The gang of elderly women attacking and mugging people is a reference to the Monty Python skit "Hell's Grannies", in which geriatric ladies terrorize London and mug civilians by beating them with their handbags.
↑Freeside drunk: "Hey! Watch your back! There be a pack of ol' ladies runnin' round here somewhere! Don't let them catch you unawares!" (Freeside drunk's dialogue)
↑Local: "You hear about that band of crazy old ladies running around? I hear they're real vicious when they mug folks." (Freeside locals' dialogue)
Non-game
↑Tour of the Mojave Wasteland p. 335: "The Granny Gang" "Maud’s Muggers: This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenseless fit young couriers. This occurs randomly, but there’s a high chance if it happening when you exit Cerulean Robotics." Fallout: New Vegas Official Game Guide Collector's Edition
