Mark Lampert is a developer who worked at Bethesda Game Studios on Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter as the audio director. He was credited with special thanks on Fallout: New Vegas.
Career[]
Work on the Fallout series[]
Lampert worked on sound design and voice recording as the audio director on several Fallout games. His work included the creation of sound effects; designing how in-game creatures, characters, and effects sound; as well as working with voice actors[1] and music licensing.[2]
Additionally, in his role as audio director, Lampert provided his own voice to certain effects and characters in Fallout. This included using his own voice (later heavily processed to create the intended effect) for robotic sound effects or creature noises. For example, Lampert was the voice of feral ghouls throughout Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. He also had several uncredited voice cameos as certain characters.[3] Additionally, Lampert wrote the music on Raider Radio for the character RedEye, voiced by Andrew W.K., which Lampert described as a "favorite personal anecdote."[4]
Lampert also worked closely with composer Inon Zur on the Fallout games to weave together the game's sound design with its score, with Lampert considering this confluence a highlight of his work in Fallout 76 in particular.[5]
Other work[]
Lampert previously worked at Ion Storm, where he worked on sound design and localization for Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief: Deadly Shadows. His tenure at Bethesda Game Studios in Maryland included being the sole sound designer there from 2005 to 2008, before holding the position of audio director for an expanding sound team from 2008 until he left the company in 2023. His other work at Bethesda included The Elder Scrolls series and serving as the audio director on Starfield. He later joined Bethesda's Montreal division as a principal sound designer in 2025.[6]
