Reckon it's the Orange Fever. I do feel light in my head...

Marguerite is one of the marsh folk[1] of Point Lookout in 2277.

Background[]

A tough lady, Marguerite may not share the looks of the locals, but she is not troubled by them because she has been a Point Lookout resident since birth.[Non-game 1]

She is the descendant of a family of moonshiners from around the Point Lookout area, who sold their liquor during Prohibition.[2] She is considered a local 'marsh folk' by the Swampfolk and remains unmolested unlike outsiders.[1] She states that the secret ingredient in her family's recipe is battery acid from fission batteries.[3]

Effects of player's actions[]

Main article: A Spoonful of Whiskey

When first encountered, Marguerite pretends to be sick in an attempt to get the Lone Wanderer to gather materials to cure her "Orange Fever". If the Lone Wanderer's Medicine is high enough (over 70), she will drop the pretense and ask them to gather items to make moonshine.

If the Lone Wanderer has a high enough Repair skill (minimum 44), they can also volunteer to fix Marguerite's still for 100 caps (200 caps if a Speech check is passed).

After completing A Spoonful of Whiskey, Marguerite will make the Lone Wanderer her famous moonshine whenever they ask (once every 24 hrs), provided they give her the ingredients.

  1. 1.0 1.1 The Lone Wanderer: "How bad is Orange Fever?"
Marguerite: "Nothing you can catch, if that's what you were wondering. Marsh folk catch it all the time. Lucky my family has a special still pot for tonic-makin'."
    (Marguerite's dialogue)
  2. The Lone Wanderer: "Did you build that still yourself?"
Marguerite: "That old thing's been in my family for years and years. Well before the bombs, there was a time folks couldn't get no tonic by law, and my family did okay helping them get what they needed."
    (Marguerite's dialogue)
  3. The Lone Wanderer: "Batteries? For extra 'kick'?"
Marguerite: "You best keep this one to yourself, sweetie. The family tonic gets real kick from our secret ingredient. We just need a lil' bit of battery acid. Oh, don't look like that, now. You reckon I'd be around to tell you about it if it weren't safe enough? Bring me six fission batteries and I'll scrape 'em into the mix."
    (Marguerite's dialogue)
