According to some uncorroborated reports, Vault-Tec was commissioned by the U.S. military to experiment on and train children to become obedient super-soldiers within a vault under the school. Gunners have moved into what remains of the vault.
This location is a schoolhouse that is mostly intact on the outside with one corner of the building missing. The main doors are boarded and cannot be entered, but there are two floors accessible from the side of the building, with a single classroom and office on the first floor, and a second classroom on the top floor. The cage door to the left of the office on the first floor leads to the basement, which houses the entrance to Vault 75.
- Once the basement is entered and Vault 75 is discovered, Malden Middle School will no longer be marked on the Pip-Boy map. Instead, the standard gear logo will replace the school's, marking the location of Vault 75.
- If one finished the main questline with the Institute, the Brotherhood of Steel will be present and fighting the Gunners here after the destruction of the Prydwen. Similarly, if one sided against the Institute, synths will be present and fighting the Gunners.
The Malden Middle School appears only in Fallout 4.

According to some uncorroborated reports, Vault-Tec was commissioned by the U.S. military to experiment on and train children to become battle-ready super-soldiers who would obey orders without a second thought. The experiment did not end well. Gunners have moved into what remains of the vault."
