Love and Hate is a unique weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
Compared to the brass knuckles and spiked knuckles, Love and Hate deals the most damage per strike at the fastest attack speed of all three, though the DAM value is low-to-moderate to all unarmed weapons while the attack speed is the third-highest of all unarmed weapons. It deals the highest critical hit damage of all its variants at a 1x critical chance multiplier. It has the third-lowest AP cost of all unarmed weapons along with the spiked knuckles as well as a similar durability, albeit the highest caps value of the three. It is considered a holdout weapon. It requires a 50 Unarmed skill level and 3 Strength attribute level, like the spiked knuckles, to use effectively.
Visually, the weapon is close in appearance to the spiked knuckles, with the addition of plates in-between the spikes and fingerholes that have the words "LOVE" and "HATE" embossed on them, as well as being stained with blood.

Behind the scenes[]
The weapon's name and design serve as an homage to the character played by Robert Mitchem in the 1955 movie The Night of the Hunter, who has the words "LOVE" and "HATE" tattooed on the knuckles of his hands. A similar homage to Mitchem's character's tattoos appears in the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing.[1]
