| For the handgun weapon mod, see Recon scope (Fallout 4). |
The long recon scope is a weapon mod in Fallout 4.
Description[]
When equipped on any applicable weapon, it appears with the "Recon" prefix and a small, light-colored, boxy, high-tech scope mounted on the top of the body. The weapon gains a 10x magnification when aiming as well as the ability to "mark" an enemy when sighted through the scope (see below) and 20% increased accuracy when aiming at the cost of -20% reduced weapon stability and 50% increased AP cost in V.A.T.S. It serves as the tier 2 mod above the short recon scope.
Target marking[]
With a recon scope equipped, when a target is positioned in the center of the scope's reticle for a few seconds, they are then "marked" with a red diamond icon. Once marked, the icon follows the marked enemy on the HUD even behind cover and only disappears once either the target is either killed or the player character moves out of range. These recon marks are distinct from the red-square markers used to indicate hostile enemies that only appear on the HUD compass.
