Who needs friends anyway? If you prefer a solo exploration, you can add value that would normally require Endurance and Strength bonuses at lower ranks. The relatively low CHR requirement means the first rank of this is an extremely attractive proposition.Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide description

Lone Wanderer is a Charisma perk in Fallout 4.

Effects[]

Taking ranks of this perk grants a temporary decrease to damage dealt to the player character and increase to Carry Weight if they do not currently have an active companion. Higher ranks increase the damage reduction and Carry Weight amounts, as well as granting a temporary bonus to damage dealt against enemies and to the total AP amount.

Ranks[]

Rank Requirements Description Form ID
1 CH 3 Who needs friends, anyway? When adventuring without a companion, you take 15% less damage and carry weight increases by 50. 001D246B
2 CH 3, LVL 17 When adventuring without a companion, you take 30% less damage and carry weight increases by 100 001D246D
3 CH 3, LVL 40 When adventuring without a companion, you do 25% more damage. 001D246E
4 CH 3, LVL 50 Far Harbor (add-on) When adventuring without a companion, you have 25 more action points. xx0365F8

Notes[]

  • This perk's effects still apply with Dogmeat as the active companion.
  • When dismissing a companion (excluding Dogmeat) while having this perk, one must fast travel or wait a certain amount of time for the perk to take effect (i.e. for damage values to change).
  • Ranks 1 & 2 of this perk and rank 4 of Attack Dog (if the Nuka-World add-on is installed) are similar in that they offer actual damage reduction instead of a set amount of Damage Resistance.
    • Additionally, due to the above fact that having Dogmeat as a companion does not void the benefits of this perk, taking up to rank 2 of Lone Wanderer and all ranks of Attack Dog results in a maximum 40% decrease to damage dealt to the player character.

Behind the scenes[]

The perk's name is a reference to the Lone Wanderer, the player character of Fallout 3. The perk icon is also modeled after that game's ending cutscene.
