Liberator is a unique machete that sports a higher damage per hit and triple the damage per second. Even though it is a unique weapon, it shares the same appearance as any other machete.

It is possible to execute Back Slash outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.
Liberator can successfully strike about 370 times from full condition before breaking.

If siding with the Legion, the weapon is given to you by Dead Sea at Camp Nelson after completing the quest We Are Legion. If you are working for the NCR, you will be sent to take Nelson back in the quest, Restoring Hope. During the siege, you will be tasked to kill Dead Sea in one of the town's barracks. Upon his death, the Liberator can be taken from Dead Sea.
