The Laser rifle (ext. cap.) is an energy weapon in Fallout 2.
Characteristics
Upgrading the Wattz 2000 doubles its magazine capacity, giving you twice as many shots before it needs to be reloaded. Since most enemies have a high laser resistance, you'll need more shots to bring them down, making this upgrade very sensible.
