Kurt M. Kuhlmann is a developer who worked at Bethesda Game Studios on Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 as a quest designer and writer. He also worked on Fallout 76 as a systems designer.
Career[]
Work on the Fallout series[]
For Fallout 3, Kuhlmann worked on character creation, parts of the main questline, as well as various other quests and random encounters, in addition to various systems design.[1]
For Fallout 4, Kuhlmann continued work on quests, random encounters and systems design, in addition to being a senior designer on the Minutemen questline and contributing to the development of the settlement/workshop system. Kuhlmann was also the lead designer of the Wasteland Workshop and Vault-Tec Workshop add-ons.[1]
For Fallout 76, Kuhlmann was credited as a systems designer, rather than a quest designer as he had been in previous games. He contributed to the design of the CAMP system, workshop attacks and the nuclear launch code system, as well as more random encounters.[1]
Other work[]
Kuhlmann worked at Bethesda Game Studios first from 1996 to 1998, and returned in 2003, working there until October 2023. He also contributed significantly to the development of The Elder Scrolls series. He was the lead systems designer on Starfield.
