Kris Kristofferson (June 22, 1936 – September 28, 2024) was an American country singer, songwriter and actor who voiced Chief Hanlon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Biography[]
Kristofferson was born in Brownsville, Texas, on June 22, 1936. At the insistence of his US Air Force officer father, he joined the US Army, but eventually resigned to become a songwriter, for which he was disowned by his family.
As a songwriter, his most famous works include "Me and Bobby McGee," "For the Good Times," "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," and "Help Me Make It Through the Night," known both in his own renditions and versions recorded by other artists.
In 1985, together with country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, he formed the music group called the Highwaymen.
His prominent acting roles include Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), Blume in Love (1973), Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974), A Star Is Born (1976) (for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor), Convoy (1978), Heaven's Gate (1980), Stagecoach (1986), and Lone Star (1996). He also appeared as Whistler in the Blade trilogy and voiced the character Ned in the video game GUN.
