The Paladins lead the Knights. The Knights are the core of the Brotherhood -- they scour the Wastes to eliminate evil and recover technology.Scribe Jameson

Knights are members of the Brotherhood of Steel. They make up the bulk of its armed forces as the standard soldiers.

Background[]

This section is transcluded from Knights. To change it, please edit the transcluded page.

Knights are members of the Brotherhood that completed the training necessary to serve as technicians, engineers[1][2][3][Non-game 1] and soldiers if the need arises. They are competent fighters and excel in applied sciences, a complicated term for manufacturing weapons and ammunition, and maintaining the ever-expanding stock of combat technology in the Brotherhood's bunkers.[4][5][6][7]. During wartime, knights fill the role of infantry, security, military police, recruit instructors and aircrew operating airborne weapons systems.

After years of service and experience (or showing exceptional talent in combat), the best knights are promoted to paladins,[8][9] the pinnacle of the Brotherhood military.[Non-game 2]

In the hierarchy of rogue chapters, such as in Lyons' Brotherhood of Steel and the Eastern Brotherhood of Steel, knights are strictly combat personnel, with their non-combat duties folded under the scribes' supervision.[citation needed]

Unlike in the original Brotherhood of Steel, knights in the Capital Wasteland are not responsible for manufacturing weapons. Instead, the rank is a purely military one. The backbone of the Brotherhood of Steel, knights make up the squads that paladins lead into battle. Knights guard the bases and outposts as well as watch over and train initiates. Knights are moderately armed, with mostly laser rifles and assault rifles.

Knights are often responsible for maintaining weapons, armor, and technology within the brotherhood'sIn-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar possession.
