King John of England (December 24, 1166 – October 19, 1216) was a medieval English king who was forced by his barons to sign the Magna Carta in 1215 to limit his power. He was born in 1166 and died in 1216 after being king for over 17 years.
Background
After signing the Magna Carta, he instantly denounced it and subsequently went to war with his barons. He died of dysentery the next year, with his land still in turmoil.
