Kenji is an assassin sent to kill Killian Darkwater in 2161.
Background
Based on his appearance, it can be assumed Kenji might have been a poor Junktown peasant that needed work before being hired by Gizmo to kill Killian. Kenji is only known for his failed assassination; he was killed by either the Vault Dweller or one of Killian's guards thereafter.

After the player's initial conversation with Killian, Kenji enters the store, takes out a hunting rifle, and takes a shot directly at Killian; This prompts Killian and his guards to return fire and the player may also lend a hand. Kenji's only real purpose is to start the Killian/Gizmo struggle questline, and to give the ability to recruit Tycho, the desert ranger.
It is possible for Kenji to kill Killian, but not likely without help. If this happens, the player will never be able to recruit Tycho in their party (though the option is given upon saving Killian's life).
