Kal-El is named after Superman, whose Kryptonian name is Kal-El in the comics. In fact, Kal-El is the son of comics artist Jon Bogdanove, who worked on Superman: The Man of Steel. Both "Kal-El" and "Bogdanove" are eligible player names for Codsworth to say in Fallout 4.
In August 2017, Kal-El and Fallout 4 actress Courtenay Taylor were interviewed by Erika Ishii as part of the web series Geek & Sundry. Kal-El later directed Erika during her performances for the Fallout 76 update Wild Appalachia.^[1]
