The K-14 compound is a chemical produced and researched in the Institute.
Background[]
When the Sole Survivor reaches the Institute for the first time, Doctor Volkert can be seen testing out the compound on a Generation 3 synth via injection. The synth is audibly nervous about the test but shows no immediate reaction to the compound; Volkert then instructs the synth to record all symptoms they experience during their everyday work.[1]
