Janet Ames was a survivor of the Great War and a co-founder of the initial settlement at the West Everett Estates in 2078.

Janet was in the process of returning from a vacation with her husband and brother-in-law when the nuclear bombs fell, forcing them to make their way back to the West Everett Estates on foot. Once they arrived, Lance and Leon began working on building a wall around the neighborhood in an attempt to keep Janet and the kids safe; an attempt that was doomed to fail after a fated scavenging run, where Leon made the mistake of revealing the location of their home to a questionable group of individuals.[1]
