Jacob (aka Jake) is an arms dealer[1][2] in the Hub in 2161.
Background[]
A former member of the Union of Atomic Workers,[3] Jacob is the top weapons dealer in the vast Hub. Operating out of the Old Town, he offers plenty of high end weapons for sale, including rechambered sniper rifles, rare Geiger counters,[4][5] and even second generation combat armor. He doesn't miss the Union, as a few years after he left, the entire organization was wiped out by hostile mutants.[3]
He's known for high prices, but with price comes quality.[6] Understandably, the Hub police is not too thrilled with high powered weapons on the market and they've harassed him repeatedly, however, he's known to be an honest merchant to those who wind up in Old Town.[3] Although he deals in rare wares, he focuses exclusively on weapons, as it's a market with seemingly bottomless demand. He's been known to sell such rarities as depleted uranium rounds.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

- Scott Bennie worked on this character,[8] intending his Union of Atomic Workers to have been a failed organization that would make the world building a little messier and more believable.[9]

(HUBJAKE.MSG) - ↑ Fallout Bible 8: "3. Yeah, yeah, but what did you do on Fallout?
I'd worked on parts of the Hub (Jakes's, Locksley, Iguana Bob), the above ground levels of the Cathedral, and wrote some of the "owie, that hurts" messages for weapon damages. I also came up with the Mysterious Stranger perk. Nice idea in theory, though I wish it could have been more useful." - ↑ Fallout Bible 8: "I did Jake, though someone probably rewrote the dialogue, since the tenor is terser than Benniespeak. :-) I figured that for every successful organization that made it in the Wasteland, there'd be ten that failed, and so I came up with some organization for Jake that explained where he got his weapons that wasn't "I used to be in the Brotherhood"... it's a throwaway bit intended to make the world a little messier; it's more believable if everything doesn't tie together neatly. Hope this helps."
