You can be made... better... faster... stronger... Actually, just faster. The M-5 implant increases your crouched movement speed by 20% for greater efficiency as a test subject.— In-game description

Implant M-5 is an implant perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Obtaining[]

The implant must be purchased from the Sink Auto-Doc for 10,000 caps, which requires both installing it via finding its personality module in the Y-17 medical facility and finding the implant module in the Z-14 Pepsinae DNA splicing lab.

Effects[]

Gaining this perk grants a permanent 20% increase to movement speed when crouched.

Notes[]

  • The effects of the perk stack with other similar perks and enhancing apparel.
    • Travel Light - Overall movement speed +10%, in light or no armor.
    • Lonesome Road (add-on) Tunnel Runner - Crouched movement speed +25%, in light or no armor.
    • Stealth suit Mk II - Crouched movement speed +20%.
      • The stealth suit Mk II is classified as medium armor, and as such the medium armor speed penalty also applies.
    • Old World Blues (add-on) Atomic! - Overall movement speed +25%, while gaining rads.
  • When combined, the above perk and/or apparel effects allow for a movement speed that is faster when crouched than walking.[verification overdue]
  • The perk also functions when fast traveling in Hardcore mode, reducing hunger, thirst, sleep, and time elapsed from travel.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The perk image is the same one used for the RobCo processor widget, a quest item in Fallout 3 as well as that of all other implant perks and Implant GRX in Old World Blues. It is also the only perk image in Fallout: New Vegas to be missing Vault Boy or Vault Girl.
  • The perk description is a reference to the iconic phrase of the 1973 science-fiction show, The Six Million Dollar Man, where an injured NASA astronaut is rebuilt with bionic implants that give him superhuman strength, speed, stamina, etc.
