The ice cream rest stop[1] is an unmarked location in the Skyline Valley region of Appalachia.
Layout[]
This pre-War establishment is found along the road southeast of Naked Creek and west of the Big Meadows gas well. An ice cream stand is set up in a parking lot, built like a diner but without seating, indicating that it was a drive-in establishment. As such, several cars and trucks are found in the parking lot, which is also a scene-type random encounter spot. More encounters may spawn on the road to the south, including regular travel-type random encounters not exclusive to Skyline Valley. One truck in the parking lot may have a Vault-Tec bobblehead spawn in its bed. There are also four portalets here, one of which holds a corn stalk, one whose door is in accessible, one that is empty, and one that is locked (Picklock 0), holding a skeleton and a random chem.
The ice cream stand itself, situated next to a trashed dumpster contains two cash registers that can be looted. Sugar can spawn under its counters, and cream may be found in the two fridges. A skeleton lies on the floor against the fridges.
On the road north of the ice cream stand is an abandoned truck with a trailer attached to it, and a grill found on a table just outside of it. In the trailer, there is a bed that cannot be interacted with, as well as a locked refrigerator requiring level 3 Picklock. The fridge contains some assorted canned food items and a recipe spawn.
Notable loot[]
- Bee's diary page #3 - Note, to the north. There is an entrance to a hiking trail near the truck and trailer; follow it to the north, continuing left (further north) at the first fork, then to the right (east) at the second one. The trail leads to the top of a hill with another Steel Jack statue pointing directly at a tree stump to the south, near a dead park ranger. The note is in the hollow tree stump.
- Potential random recipe - Inside the locked fridge (Picklock 3) in the trailer on the road to the north.
- Potential magazine - Under the counter inside the ice cream stand itself.
- Potential Vault-Tec bobblehead - In the bed of a truck in the parking lot, next to a sleeping bag.
Notes[]
Against a tree near the rest stop, there is a piece of plywood with a symbol from the old Raiders of Appalachia painted on it, meant to indicate wild game nearby. Although there is no significant Raider presence near the rest stop, living or dead, the presence of the sign may indicate that some Raiders, whether old Raiders or Crater Raiders, had passed through the area at one point.
Appearances[]
The ice cream rest stop appears only in Fallout 76, introduced in the Skyline Valley update.
Behind the scenes[]
