The I-80 or Interstate 80 is a transcontinental highway in the former United States that begins in San Francisco and ends in New Jersey in the New York City metropolitan area. The stretch of I-80 in northern Nevada is also the home to a band of nomadic raiders dubbed the 80s due to their constant patrol of that stretch of the I-80 area and use of I-80 highway signs as armor as well as an indication of rank.
The I-80 connects many territories together, from NCR to Salt Lake City to Ogden. However, it is too risky to travel. As the rangers are too busy in the Mojave to keep the raiders off it.[1]

I-80 is mentioned only in Fallout: New Vegas and its add-on Honest Hearts.

I-80 is based on the real world interstate of the same name.

The highway's too risky - NCR's rangers are so busy here in the Mojave they don't have the manpower to keep the raiders off. Ogden's just too far - we'd lose more in travel expenses than we'd ever earn."
