For the main game version of this weapon, see hunting revolver. |
The hunting revolver (GRA) is a weapon added with the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Gun Runners' Arsenal.
Characteristics[]
The hunting revolver is a large, double-action revolver chambered for .45-70 Gov't rounds. It does a significant amount of damage and comes with a pre-installed x2.46-magnification scope. Its base damage of 58 is the second-highest of any ballistic one-handed weapon, surpassed only by the Ranger Sequoia. Despite being a one-handed revolver, it is not considered a holdout weapon.
This variant is capable of accepting weapon modifications unlike the standard variant or the Ranger Sequoia.
In combat, the weapon has few drawbacks except for low durability compared to other revolvers. In general, .45-70 Gov't rounds are quite scarce with most weapon vendors selling very small quantities of said rounds at very high prices and enemies unlikely to carry hunting revolvers and ammo for looting and repairing until at least level 20; as with most other uncommon and rare ammo types, the Great Khan armorer near Spring Mt. Ranch State Park and Quartermaster Bardon in the Hoover Dam offices are among the few that have .45-70 Gov't ammo in substantial quantities.
Durability[]
The hunting revolver (GRA) can fire a total of about 545 standard rounds, the equivalent of 109 reloads, or 91 reloads when modded with the 6 shot cylinder, from full condition before breaking.

Notes[]
- On the base of the hand grip, a generic serial number 05709234 is stamped into the metal.
- The GRA version will always be in full condition when purchased from any vendor that has it in stock.
- The reloading animation will always display a 5-shot cylinder even after the 6-shot cylinder mod is added.
Behind the scenes[]
The hunting revolver is based on the Magnum Research BFR with elements taken from the Bison Bull as well.[1]
Bugs[]
If loading a saved game from the main menu in which you have a hunting revolver equipped and drawn, the reload animation takes twice as long as normal. This can be solved by simply switching to another gun and then back again.[verified]
