Heart of Steel: A Dread Island Tale was the ninth season in Fallout 76. It began on June 14, 2022, with the release of the Test Your Metal update, and concluded on September 13, 2022. It was preceded by A Better Life Underground and was followed by The City of Steel.

Overview

Starting with this season, Fallout 1st members receive additional challenges, more rewards than previous seasons, and the opportunity to earn up to 25% more SCORE. The format for which Fallout 1st rewards appear was changed with this season, and they are more numerous than before.

Behind the scenes

The description on the board game map is copied almost entirely from a map of the North Atlantic Ocean, made in 1700 in Amsterdam by the Dutch cartographer Pierre Mortier. The only distinction is the in game map is labeled as a map of the Pacific Ocean, and made by "Pietro Portier" rather than Pierre Mortier.
