Naturally occurring examples of this mutation were discovered, to the detriment of military forces, in early explorations of the Appalachia area.

Initial attempts to replicate this were universally considered disastrous, with subjects exhibiting spontaneous tissue growth, in some cases presenting as fully-formed limbs or internal organs.

Later trials resulted in more reliable results but a stable state was not reached until much later in the process.

Bugs[]

PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One This mutation is the cause of a notorious glitch which results in the player having trouble fast-traveling. When trying to fast-travel anywhere, the game will simply exit the map and not perform the action, often several times in a row. Furthermore, if there are enemies nearby, the player will not be able to fast-travel at all. It is much more common in players who run low-health builds.
