Bounty Hunting: Head Hunt is a public event in Fallout 76, introduced in the Burning Springs update. Unlike the side quest Grunt Hunts, Head Hunts are more dangerous bounties with named targets, encouraging public participation in defeating the enemies.
Walkthrough[]
After talking with the Ghoul about how to start bounty hunting, Head Hunts can be acquired either by giving him 5000 caps, or by acquiring wanted posters from completing Grunt Hunts. The player must then hang the wanted poster from either the Ghoul or the Grunt Hunt onto the big bounties board outside of the Last Resort bar in Highway Town. The Head Hunts are focused on higher-level, more dangerous targets, as compared to the side quest Grunt Hunts, which only feature generic outlaws. Once the public event has been started, go to the location marked on the map. As of the Burning Springs update, all of the potential locations are within the Burning Springs region. Players on the server who wish to participate in the bounty hunt must launch a flare after a brief waiting period, which will summon the enemy. Once this is done, a dangerous bounty target will attack the participants, supported by various enemies such as other Rust raiders, as well as two-star legendary "posse members" who will be unique to the target (for example, a patriotic soldier supporting Corporal Jane). The main target will be a three-star legendary as well, and has a larger health bar that appears on the screen during the event's duration. The event completes once the main target is defeated, though other surviving enemies can continue to be killed afterwards.

Notes[]
- The longer the quest goes on without the main target being killed, more posse members and Rust raiders will spawn to assist in combat.
- Although the targets in this quest may be supported by Rust raiders, it is not confirmed if all of the bounty hunting targets are meant to specifically be members of the Rust King's Army, as this is never explicitly stated by the quest or in dialogue with the Ghoul. Additionally, the Ghoul even says that the Rust King "doesn't interfere" with his bounty-hunting business, and thus he has no reason to interfere with the Rust King's business.[1] The targets have their own internal faction in the game's files, separate from the Rust King's Army, and do not share their dialogue, instead using generic combat grunts, many of which are actually shared with voice types from Wastelanders.
