Harry Friedman was a resident of Atlantic City and member of the Atlantic City Municipal Government.

Harry worked in the city government's Emergency Services Division after the Great War, alongside Anna Barone. On one night, he substituted for Anna's usual position of emergency dispatcher while she went to get a coffee for around 20 minutes. Harry entered logs for each call received during his tenure, many of which contained humorous observations and Jersey mannerisms copied down into text. Upon Anna's return, she wrote an addendum thanking Harry for filling in for her, but asked him to keep the personal comments to a minimum in the future, saying "this is a call log, not a diary."[1]
