The harpoon gun is a ranged weapon in Fallout 76.

Characteristics[]

A handheld harpoon launcher, the harpoon gun is a slow-firing, single-shot heavy gun with a high damage output. It has an electrical trigger switch on its grip, similarly to the Broadsider. The gun's harpoon ammunition can be customized to inflict different types of damage on the enemies. All harpoons pin limbs by default in a similar manner to the railway rifle. Aiming with an unmodified harpoon gun in first-person view may prove difficult due to a lack of a default iron sight, and the crosshair vanishing while in the aim pose.

Variants[]

Locations[]

  • 50% chance to be found in a wrecked boat north of Point Pleasant beside a dead fisherman along with a hunting rifle. On the boat there is also a dolphish with harpoons sticking out of it.
  • May be found in steamer trunks and level 2-3 locked safes.

Legendary effects[]

  • Despite being a single shot weapon, harpoon guns can drop with the Rapid (faster fire rate) effect.
  • Prior to the Wastelanders update, the harpoon gun could drop with the Explosive Legendary effect.

Notes[]

  • The harpoon gun does not have a prime receiver and subsequently an Ultracite variant of its harpoon ammunition.
  • If one fires a harpoon gun and quickly switches to a different hotkeyed weapon, there will be a delay before the player is able to fire that equipped weapon. This also occurs with the Broadsider.
  • The flechette mod does not benefit from shotgun perks.

Behind the scenes[]

A version of the harpoon gun was created for Nuclear Winter, however it was never added to the game mode.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Xbox OneXbox One Playstation 4Playstation 4 A Two-shot Legendary harpoon gun modified with the flechettes attachment will still fire only 7 projectiles.[1][patched]
