"Metallic Monks"

The Gomorrah 3rd floor is a cut unmarked location in Fallout: New Vegas.

Layout[]

A third floor of Gomorrah exists within the game, but its option in the elevator menu is disabled. This floor houses the non-penthouse rooms available at the Gomorrah, as well as a small janitorial room. The area itself has no NPCs present nor any notable loot.

Appearances[]

The Gomorrah 3rd floor would have appeared in Fallout: New Vegas but was cut from the final release.

Notes[]

  • Test cells and cut locations generally play no ambient sound effects or music soundtracks and have largely unfinished environments. The Gomorrah 3rd floor is unique, having a well furnished interior with randomly generated items even being lootable from containers, an oddity since items are typically entirely pre-placed in unused cells. It also plays the soundtrack Metallic Monks, and one can hear prostitutes moaning in the background. The largely empty janitorial room also has an Easy lock, suggesting it was cut from the game just as it was about to be finished.
  • The missing third floor of the Gomorrah is referenced by the Gomorrah receptionist, who explains that there are no vacant rooms currently available in the hotel.

Behind the scenes[]

When asked about the removal of the area, Joshua Sawyer stated, "Gomorrah, even as it shipped, was large and difficult to navigate. Several quests had to snake through that labyrinth and having additional levels actually detracted from the experience."[1] Sawyer spoke about this further during a charity live stream, saying that he told Akil Hooper to cut the third floor because Gomorrah was already too large in comparison to the amount of content that was implemented there.[2]
