The Gobi Desert (Chinese: 戈壁沙漠) is a large rain shadow desert in Asia, bounded by the Altai Mountains and the steppes of Mongolia at its northern end, the Tibetan Plateau and the Gangsu Corridor to the southwest, and the North China Plain and Yin Mountains to the southeast. The Plateau blocks precipitation from the Indian Ocean, creating its arid conditions.
Background
The desert was the site of the Gobi Campaign during the Sino-American War.[1]
Appearances
The Gobi Desert is mentioned only in Fallout: New Vegas.
Behind the scenes
The Gobi Desert is, of course, the Gobi Desert, covering parts of northern China and of southern Mongolia.
