With its high damage, high accuracy, amour piercing ammo, low action point cost, and long range, this pistol is arguably the best small weapon in Fallout 2. With an AP:4(single)/5(aimed) it is possible to design a character capable of shooting six regular or 3 aimed shots a round to deadly effect. The only drawback of this weapon is the scarcity of 2mm EC ammo and, being a pistol, its small magazine size (although it is tied for the second largest magazine in the pistol class).

The Fallout Gauss weapons are a reference to the scientific unit used to measure magnetic fields, named for German mathematician Karl Friedrich Gauss. The Fallout Gauss weapons fire their projectiles using magnetic induction.

Praised for its range and stopping power, the PPK12 Gauss Pistol is of German design. The pistol uses an electromagnetic field to propel rounds at tremendous speed and punch through almost any armor.
