G5-19 is a synth in the Commonwealth in 2287. Her body may be used to hold Curie's consciousness following the events of the quest Emergent Behavior.

Background[]

G5-19 was a close friend of Glory before the latter's escape from the Institute, who described her as a "tough" individual. Glory considered her to be family and felt indebted to her for her help in the Institute.[1] Her mind was stripped multiple times by the Synth Retention Bureau for her disobedience. After G5-19 escaped and reached the Railroad, her personality had been changed so much that she did not even recognize Glory anymore.[2]

Terrified of being recaptured by the Institute, G5-19 opted to have Doctor Amari give her a new life via memory replacement, despite pleas by Glory to reconsider.[1][3] However, the operation failed, rendering G5-19 physically alive but brain dead. Unwilling to lose her, Glory placed her on life support in hopes that Amari could find a way to save her.[4][5]

  1. 1.0 1.1 Glory: "So you're the one that wants to put a robot brain in G5-19? She's one of my people. A friend. I promised to protect them."
Doctor Amari: "Glory, she wanted new memories. She knew her personality would be all but erased. These are just different memories. Perhaps better ones."
Glory: "I don't know. Maybe I should just let her go."
    (Glory's and Doctor Amari's dialogue)
Note: This is the conversation between Glory and Doctor Amari when being introduced to the synth's caretaker during Emergent Behavior. This version of Glory's first line is used when Tradecraft has not been completed.
  2. The Sole Survivor: "What was G5 like?"
Glory: "Tough. Tough enough the SRB had to strip her mind. More than once. When I saw G5... She didn't even recognize me. But I owed her from my time in the Institute. That's all I'm going to say."
    (Glory's dialogue)
  3. The Sole Survivor: "What would G5 have wanted?"
Glory: "G5 was scared. Like most synths, she was terrified the Institute would find her and send her back. I tried to convince her she could live free, as herself. But she didn't listen."
    (Glory's dialogue)
  4. The Sole Survivor: "She's already dead, but what's left of her could help others."
Glory: "I've been hoping the Doc could think of something. She's breathing and all... It's her, you understand. But I just need to let her go. Fine. Do it. Do it now before I change my mind."
    Doctor Amari: "Curie. Let's begin."
    (Glory's and Doctor Amari's dialogue)
  5. The Sole Survivor: "You're not suggesting...? I won't kill a synth."
Doctor Amari: "I'm suggesting nothing of the kind. Allow me to explain. I've worked on synths before. Giving them memory wipes, so they can live a life free of the Institute. But the procedure isn't always successful. If something goes wrong, it can leave them in a brain dead state. Living, but with no cognition. I know a caretaker for one of these brain dead synths. If they're willing, we could try transferring your friend's consciousness into her."
    (Doctor Amari's dialogue)
Note: This version of Amari's dialogue is used when the player has not completed Memory Interrupted.
