For a cross-game overview of this perk, see Four Leaf Clover. |
Four Leaf Clover is a Luck-based perk in Fallout 76.
Effects[]
The first rank grants a 7.5% chance, the second rank a 10.5%, and the third rank a 13.5% chance to fill the critical meter with each hit on an opponent in V.A.T.S.
Ranks[]
Rank | Description | Form ID |
---|---|---|
1 | Each hit in V.A.T.S. has a chance to fill your Critical meter | 0004D895 |
2 | Each hit in V.A.T.S. has a better chance to fill your Critical meter | 00065E20 |
3 | Each hit in V.A.T.S. has an excellent chance to fill your Critical meter | 00065E21 |
Notes[]
- The effects of this perk will roll for all 8 projectiles of a shotgun, resulting in a 46% chance to fill the critical meter at rank 1, an 59% chance at rank 2, and a 69% chance at rank 3.
The cumulative probability of succeeding (or failing) multiple independent rolls is calculated as follows. Using Four Leaf Clover 3, with a 13.5% chance as an example:
Chance of effect NOT proccing in a single hit = 1-0.135 = 0.865, or an 86.5% chance Four Leaf Clover 3 WON'T proc on a single hit
Chance of effect NOT proccing in 8 hits (a single shotgun attack) = 0.865^8 = 0.313, or a 31.3% chance Four Leaf Clover 3 WON'T proc on 8 hits
This leaves a 100%-31.3% = 68.65% chance Four Leaf Clover 3 will proc on a shotgun attack where all 8 pellets score a hit.
Probabilities can't simply be multiplied by the number of independent rolls, as may seem apparent at first. This can be understood in the case that 8 pellets times 13.5% chance would give a 108% chance to proc, which doesn't make sense. This is not how probabilities are combined, and is confirmed through gameplay where one can see that Four Leaf Clover 3 does not give a 100% chance to proc with shotguns, it procs roughly 2/3 of the time. Probabilities must always combine to less than 100%
- The distinction between this perk and Psychopath may be confusing at first due to the wording of the descriptions. Four Leaf Clover has a small chance to refill the Critical meter per hit in V.A.T.S., while Psychopath has a bigger chance to refill the Critical meter per kill.
