I think the Fisto! Because there is nothing it can't fist! But on a serious note...Eugene! (User:Razman 222)

I believe that out of all the over powered weapons of the wastes, you cannot beat the xuanlongs chinese assault rifle i use this weapon most of the time while wandering the wastes and never seem to run into anything this gun cannot handle. But i would not recomend this weapon if you were planning to kill anything above average e.g. behemoths, but for anything average e.g. supermutants , deathclas , raiders , radscoripions and mirelurks this gun is perfect. Plus if you have the winterised combat armour this gun looks perfect in the hands the wearer and as a bonus, the abundance ammo makes it easy to keep yourself well stocked. In almost every group of humaniod enemies at least one carries an assault rifle or chinese assault weapon, with at least 25 rounds and with reagular maintenance this gun will not let you down. I think it is the Backwater Rifle. It does good damage, had a fast reload time,a nd the ammo is everywhere. The Fat Man/Experimental MIRV does lots of damage, but ammo is a problem. Double-Barrel Shotgun is also good, great damage, and easy to find bullets.Liam Spencer 09:00, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

If you mean personal favorite, then Ol' Painless.--Kleiner352 19:31, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

Sydney's Ultra SMG + Ghoul Ecology + Superior Defender = massive destruction... 128.158.1.162 22:35, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

I am right now rotating between Combat Shotgun and Backwater Rifle. One for up close, one for distance. Also if they r too far whip out sniper.Liam Spencer 23:20, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

I'd say Lincoln's Repeater or even the Anchorage version of the Gauss Rifle (which you can get if you do the Gary 23 Glitch.) but overall, Infiltrator + Sniper + Superior Defender + Commando + Ghoul Ecology = Ultimate Weapon ever.

Turbo Plasma Rifle. Nitty Tok. 18:39, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

With my setup, The Atomic Pulverizer makes me pretty much invincible. I can take down a Behemoth with Bar, and Grim Reapers sprint immediately refills it, so I end up massacring everything without breaking sweat :p. 86.19.96.66 17:17, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

well thing is how can you define the best weapon, most damage? obviously the experimental mirv, does that mean its the best? hell no, lol but seriously, the best is a opinion, like i love lincoln's repeater and the perforator, with chinese stealth armor your never seen with perforator, then if you do get seen, pull out old lincoln and pop a cap in those mutants asses, woohoo!Toolazytomakeaaccount 07:02, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

I'd have to agree with the Infiltrator. I never much used the assult rifle (except when I needed to in Anchorage), but this has to be the most awesome variant created. My favourite energy weapon though is the Disintegrator. Portfan 15:40, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Personally I usually prefer energy weapons over anything else however when I am steathy I use the Perforater because it is silenced and is scoped.Doctalen 01:42, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

I think the best allrounders are A-thingies Plasma Rifle and Xuanlong/Sydneys SMG, wether you prefer 3 more damage or a larger magazine. Kamuikaze 02:03, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Since I have played more, I have discovered that the best weapons for me are A3-21's Plasma Rifle, Backwater Rifle, and the Infiltrator. Liam Spencer 11:27, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

Easy, the Lever-Action Rifle its slow but makes good use of your 10mm rounds. and the sound it makes is worthy of lolz when you blast a ghouls head off and it makes a tiny ping like a carnival shooting range. Antily3f 15:35, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

just gonna mention u get the ping on lincoln's repeater aswell.Toolazytomakeaaccount 03:34, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

I'd have to say that the PERFORATER is the best all-around weapon. You can snipe with it, run and gun with it, and it's got a fast enough rate of fire to use when you're out of AP and cornered by feral roamers. if i only leave the house with one weapon, it's definitely the one!

My opinion:

All Around: A3-21's Plasma Rifle. It's easily obtained, deadly accurate in the hands of an Energy Weapon user, and doles out high damage with relatively few AP's. Only downside: Microfusion cells are a bit hard to come by early on in the game. This is also the best energy weapon. Once you have enough ammo, you can finish the game with this piece alone. I do know that the Alien Blaster does more damage, but the ammo is too limited for this gun to be relied upon much.

Small Guns: Toss-up between Lincoln's Repeater and Xiongyang Chinese Rifle. The Lincoln piece is the more devastating of the two, but it uses .44 ammo, and that is not easy to find. The assault rifle uses standard 5.56, which is common as dirt. However, as a backup weapon, the Dart Gun is a survival essential: its paralyzing effect turns Deathclaws and Yao-Gui into easy pickings.

Big Guns: I like the Rock-It launcher myself, since the ammo is obviously very cheap. Eugene is a nice toy, and easy to repair with all the Minigun-equipped Super Muties. Haven't found the Vengeance, but it sounds like a fun toy to play with.

Melee: Shishkebab all the way, nothing else comes close. Max out your Melee skills and add the Pyromaniac perk, and you'll become a living weapon of mass destruction.

Unarmed: The Fisto is nice because you can secure it early on, possibly on your errand to Minefield (for Moira), assuming you can get past all those ghouls that are guarding it. But against armored or resistant foes, I prefer the Deathclaw Gauntlet. Only problem is killing a Deathclaw...

Explosive: Bottlecap Mine. As long as you've got an anemy that likes to come right at you (and a lot of enemies in F3 do), this weapon will dependably ruin their day

Slot 1= Sydneys ultra. Slot 2= Terrible shotgun, 3= Xylong 4= Lincoln 5= Fatman. With those 5, you got all the bases covered (I dont bother with melee later in the game). The Lone Kobold 23:08, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

2 words....Gauss Rifle...If you can quickly aim down a scope in close quarters this weapon becomes godly. You can't get hurt if all of your enemies are laying unconscious on the ground right? And it can become a lifesaver in Behemoth/ Overlord battles aswell. GiantAlbinoGhoul 01:44, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Backwater Rifle, Enough said!Vault 815 18:33, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

The strongest pistol is of course is in the possession of Mysterious stranger. But to me it's the MPLX Nova surge. Lincoln repeater, terrible shotgun, and Xualong assault rifle are the ones that come next. But, I think the terrible shotgun wears out pretty quick. But then comes the A3-21 plasma rifle. It's strong, the ammo is common, and the condition doesn't wear out quickly. The best sniper is the gauss rifle. Even though there you can use 1 ammo before you have to reload, it's a good weapon. Next is eugene but im not really good with miniguns. But the best weapon to me is vengence. It's hard to find, but it's worth it. 11 damage per shot when fully repaired, but how many times does it shoot?

VENGEANCE!!! ! clip of ammo and...well let's just say, about 7 less Ghoul Reavers to worry about. Footnote: It wears away very quickly, so if it breaks, make sure you have lots of stimpaks, because if the enemy survives, you're boned! MyDeathclawsNameIsBubbles 20:37 GMT, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Perforator and Gauss Rifle !!!! :P

Darkangel, July 1, 2010

Well it all depends on what kind of character you want to be, I prefer a Sneaking/Small guns character so I use the Trench Knife (OA) for killing sleeping foes up close or anything really close. The Silenced 10mm Pistol for short range, and the Infiltrator (TP) for medium range. I think in general the best weapon is the Assault Rifle, as its ammo is plentiful and easily repairable because it is so common.

Dylan Peason, July 1, 2010

Use the perforator, it's an unique Infiltrator. ;)

Darkangel, July 1, 2010

Perforator and Vengeance(for the heavy hitters).

Shadow 15:02, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Becoming attached to the Victory Rifle lately. Chance for knockdown so even if they live you can probably get 1 or 2 more shots off with it before they get fully back up. Havent started the pitt yet, really need to cause i want that silenced gun. The Lone Kobold 20:11, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Gauss Rulezzz

Just MIRV em all, Experimental MIRV is the best weapon in dealing damage no need to aim XD. It has also some transporting capabilities, in ten seconds moves you from southwest corner to northeast corner on map (atleast most of your bodyparts), just try :D

and if you are picky, try FOOK, there are plenty of weapons and with that I dont know what's the best weapon. For snipers maybe Heavy Sniper (Black, Silenced) with 14mm ammo?

Bretan 5:16, July 1, 2010

My favourite weapons:

Long distance - Glitched Operation: Anchorage sniper rifle or Gauss rifle.

Middle distance - A3-21's plasma rifle, Lincoln's repeater or Xuanlong assault rifle.

Short distance - The Terrible Shotgun or Metal Blaster

Sneaking - Jingwei's shocksword or Shishkebab

For very strong enemies or large groups of enemies - Fat Man

For Feral ghoul reavers, Albino radscorpions and Swampfolk - Dart gun + Eugene/Vengeance with Ghoul Ecology and Superior Defender

Of course not all of the above can be carried at once. On my travels I take the sniper rifle, A3-21's plasma rifle, Xuanlong Assault Rifle, Terrible Shotgun, shocksword, dart gun and Fat Man. Everything else is on display in My Megaton House. Telos 08:33, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

I'd have to second xuanlongs chinese assault rifle: good accuracy, good dammage, light weight, plenty of ammo to be found.

But, the "best weapon" largely depends on the player's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and Skills. A3-21's plasma rifle is an amazing weapon IF your "Energy Weapons" skill is high enough, but if not, you might have a better chance with the Blackhawk 10mm if your "Small Guns" skill is high enough. Likewise grenades, missles, and nukes are weak without a high "Explosives" skill.

I think the best way to look at this would be... Consider a Zero-Special / Zero-Stat character, look at the base damage of the weapon compared to the crit damage, and crit%, Damage-per-second, accuracy, fire rate, etc... then factor in special scripted effects (ie: life drain, poison, shock damage, fire damage, knockdown). I'd be interested to see this sort of "study"

Statistically, nothing beats Jack. 33 hits per second (according to player testing from this wiki). All perks that add to melee damage, also exponentially increases this damage, besides additively with 99% of other weapons since this damage is added to all 33 hits. This weapon is also a melee weapon and is considered by game mechanics "silent" even though it has latent noise.

I have tested this weapon in modded games, and can destroy an Overlord in under 1 second from sneak, and a behemoth in under 3 seconds with all the perks mentioned above + a psycho on Very Hard difficulty. Jack is also a "realistic" approach vs the MIRV. MIRV you must spend lots of time collecting mini nukes whereas Jack can be repaired easily. Jack straight up destroys the shishkebob in damage.

IF you add in mod only perks, with Ultimate Perk Pack, it makes it even stronger since you have access to 2 perks (each with 3 levels) that give melee weapons another 30 damage per hit. This thing can single target out DPS the MIRV, and Jack has no reload time, as it uses no ammo, thus as long as you hold down attack, it is doing 33 hits per second always. -ThePesmergia

Bring back memories from the good old days. How I enjoyed that game. That one I played for a few 100 hours, other than the games that followed... A3-21's plasma rifle was the best all-around for me.
