Forums: Index > Fallout 3 gameplay help > Radio Towers: purpose???

Hi everyone!

I have a quick question for you. I have explored the entire Fallout 3 world and had a great time. I am trying to explore/experience everything the world has to offer, and I am perplexed about the radio towers.

I'm sure you have encountered them. You flip the switch at the base of the tower and then you get a message that you can receive Beta Alpha Signal, or whatever it is. And it turns out that it's just some morse code. I have turned on all of them that I can find, and I was wondering: WHAT DO THEY DO?? Does something happen if you turn all of them on? Do you get something out of it?

Thanks!! 01:14, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

If you were interested, the morse code says " CQ CQ CQ DE (station initials, repeated several times) K"

Which translates roughly to "Calling anyone, this is (station name), waiting for any response, over."

♠ Turning one on produces a Signal (i.e. Signal Echo Foxtrot) which can be used (via PipBoy) to locate the source, which in turn is usually a Ham Radio that is transmitting from a nearby location (usually a Drainage Chamber of some sort). There is usually some loot inside that usually include skill books and weapon components for custom weapons, along with the skeletal remains of the former occupant, but otherwise nothing of interest. The exception to this is the Signal Kilo Bravo, which is transmitted from WKML. Its corresponding Drainage Chamber (called Sealed Cistern, i think) has the Explosives Bobblehead. Hope that helps. • The source of the transmission will be on your local map*

Cheers for that Magnum101, I thought maybe they activated a nuclear strike or something ( I had my fingers crossed!). Thanks for the explanation

If you want to see some fireworks head over to the SatCom Arrays page. There you will find out how to launch some missles from a satellite. All you need to do is find the launch codes and head over to Array NW-05a, Climb up to the top and enter the codes into a terminal near the top.--NeoScott 04:04, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

♠There are also a couple of places where you can call in artillery support, which is also a treat for the eyes (especially the Behemoth at Takoma Industrial Park). Kinda makes you wonder: How much firepower and war materiel does Talon Company have? Artillery strikes?!! Magnum101 05:41, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
