Who am I?

Hello, fellow contributors. My name is Ness and I go by the username For NCR. I'm a 17 year old high school senior who loves to write and work on anything literary. I'm also heavily addicted to gaming, so I hope to become a writer for such projects. I'm easy going and not fast to judge, and I won't get mad or serious unless the situation demands for it.

Why should I be a moderator?

I've been an editor for about 3 years now, spending many days aiming on improving Nukapedia and it's community. I've managed several group activities here and participated in many more. This was the first wiki I've ever joined, and the only one I'm truly active on, and that won't change anytime soon. I've been given the title of Patroller to prove my efforts in editing, and I'm looking for more ways to be of assistance.

Right from the get-go, I started to chat and develop friendships with many users. They were all so welcoming, and there's never a dull moment when everyone jumps in. Never have I been treated unfairly by the other members (mostly) and I relish the more memorable moments indefinitely. However, I've seen how ugly an unprotected chatroom can be.

There are certain times when chat is left completely empty. I firmly believe we can never have enough protection, since conflict can strike at any moment. I've been trusted with temporary moderator status twice, earning the trust of our current chat mods.

As of late, our older members have been missing lately, and chat is losing it's numbers. In the midst of this, I've decided that more continuously active chat moderators will be needed, and I for one would be willing to step in as one. I'm responsible and quick to follow our policies. However, I'm also fair, and will use my rights only when needed. I'll respect our users appropriately, and I'd sooner delete this account than disobey our contributors. I'll remain positive and polite, as I'm certain many situations will need both.

I really hope you give my proposal some consideration. My dream is for a better Nukapedia, and I mean it. Thanks!--User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 20:26, August 5, 2014 (UTC)

Edit Count

There should have been a list of this user's edit counts here, but the edit counts feature is no longer available.

Availability

Monday - Friday: 9:00AM through 10:00PM

Weekends: Anytime needed.

Endorsement

Ignoring the recent period of chat crashes, a large number of chat mods and moderators have become inactive. With only two or three of these rights users even close to active, we may actually need the additional support that For NCR can provide. For that reason, I officially endorse his application. 5. Yes While you haven't been active when it comes to using your patroller rights. I realized that chat, while it is losing numbers, is in danger of being unmodded while users are actively chatting. As regulars drift off to take care of real life occurrences (myself starting my final year of high school next week), it would be welcome to see someone that has had a place in the community and has been entrusted with rights prior as a chat mod. Be the best you can be. --MountHail (talk) 11:59, August 8, 2014 (UTC)
  6. Yes Well, I may not have seen you much in the chat, but you did say you moderated it for two months (I must have been sleeping during those times). Considering your past experiences and the fact some of the chat mods are inactive, I vote yes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Energy X (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

No

  1. No although your account has existed for a long enough time, and you have in the past had over three active months you only returned from your down time a couple of weeks ago, at most, so I feel this is kinda premature. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 23:43, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
  2. No You've only recently re-appeared on the wiki, so I'm going to join in on Jasper with this on it being premature. I've also not seen you nearly active enough during the times you've listed on the top of your request, and personally find thirteen hours per weekday to be a questionably large amount of time. 3. No I havent even seen you around and we don't really need it, I never see hardly anyone chatting anymore. float Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Semper Invictus" 01:22, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
  4. No For a few reasons. I haven't seen you much in the last few months. You retain patroller rights yet you are listed inactive (active now) and I haven't seen you edit much either. We don't need this many chat mods as chat is dead a lot nowadays. Maybe if you were more active and chat was the booming place it once was, I would say "yes" but in these times no. 5. No We have plenty of mods as it is. At this rate, there will be more stars in chat than anything else. And that doesn't give off a good impression, imo. Enclavesymbol 20:26, August 8, 2014 (UTC)
  6. No You haven't been back long enough for me to have a fair assessment of your personality if it has changed from before you had taken your prolonged absence. Your ban history doesn't add confidence to this sentiment either. --The Ever Ruler (talk) 00:56, August 10, 2014 (UTC)

  1. No Call this irrelevant, but as someone that's applying for full moderator rights and has only made 3 article edits since being back, I wouldn't consider you to be active. You have been in chat somewhat regularly, but with the lack of edits and only being in chat actively for the last two months (the minimum for applying). I can't bring myself to vote yes on this one. --MountHail (talk) 07:59, August 7, 2014 (UTC)

# NeutralI must admit that even though I'm new here I do find it amazing that someone as young as you is trying their best to be polite, slow to judgment and all in all seems sincere. However, I will say as well that I agree with the noes that you also seemed to have not been active for a bit (I'm willing to excuse this however because we all have times when we have tight schedules and must meet a certain deadline for something more important). Anyways, that's just my thoughts, I'll for now will remain neutral in this situation. TheOracle7 (talk) 23:34, August 7, 2014 (UTC) TheOracle7 No edits prior to the start of the vote. Comments

Before I make a vote, I have one question: how active are you? I know that before I, myself, went inactive, I hardly ever saw you around the wiki anymore, and the few times I do check chat these days, I still hardly see you in there. I might just be missing the obvious, so if you and others can verify your current level of activity, I would be more than happy to make a proper vote. Lately, I've been trying to make up for lost time. I had schooling, work and I was in a rough spot financially. I couldnt get online because my internet went out. Now I have it back, and I will be online a lot more. I've just recently gained back my active status for this purpose.--User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 23:52, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
So how long have you been back? I will need to think about this more - I will have to ask around, and stitch together an opinion based on your general reputation. I wish you luck on your request! I will try and have my vote up within a few days. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:35, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
Feel free, Leon. By the way, I've been active from my break for about 2 months now.--User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 00:40, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

I should also point out that, in the past, you have tried to minimod a number of times and tried to get us to kick/ban people who were not even breaking the rules, along with the fact you already have two bans under your belt so it's pretty clear that you do not understand our rules. It's a job of a moderator to understand and, if need be, enforce the rules not just to be in chat a lot. And it doesn't matter if you say you'll be in chat more often now, we need proof not your word.JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 23:58, August 5, 2014 (UTC)

You are counting a ban that was added 2 years ago. Do you think I haven't learned from my mistakes?--User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 00:15, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
Since you have only been back for a few days what else do I have to go on right now? Your word? JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 00:17, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
Not to be rude, but you're are exaggerating. I've been active for well on 2 months now, and if you haven't noticed me, you probably weren't modding during those times. You also can't believe that you have not seen me in-between the days.--User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 00:44, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
Didn't seem like two months, but okay. The way I see it you should have to have had three active months leading up to the application anyway. But regardless, how active you are is only one piece of the puzzle. Yes, I've seen you in chat but nothing as of yet has made you stand out. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 00:56, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

I have thought about it some, and I have come to my conclusion:

1. For quite some time now, the chat has been slowly dying off. Less admins are jumping in on a regular basis, and we are running low on actual chat-moderators (moderators are the ones typically watching chat the most). In my opinion, we could use an additional 1 or 2 well-defined chat-moderators to help keep the peace.

2. I remember previous interactions with you, and you are generally a friendly guy that keeps himself composed and aware of the rules. You have been banned twice, but one was for extremely minor reasons, and the other was a lapse in judgment that you have not repeated since nearly 2 years ago (that I know of - feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this). I do not find that particular history to compromise your character, and I would hope that it would only motivate you to uphold our rules even more, to prove that you can still be a capable member of our community.

Maybe you can help breath a bit more life into the wiki, and maybe you can help make the chat a more peaceful and attractive place. Good luck. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 15:21, August 7, 2014 (UTC)

Nowadays, the chat is either so dead that having an additional moderator wouldn't be necessary at all, or the chat is full enough to contain users with chat moderator rights (whom we still have plenty of). Maybe when the summer is over things may change, but that's for the future. Also, I think this application is a little rushed considering the very extensive hiatus. --Skire (talk) 00:26, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

Question to No voters

Hi folks, just something I'm wondering. Presuming that it was October 11 today, and that NCR had been relatively active in chat for the last two months, and had kept a good behaviour record, would you expect your vote to be different? Agent c (talk) 01:21, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

It would still depend on the status of chat and coverage thereof, not just the status of the applicant. From a stand-alone perspective, I think NCR would do fine. Just some more time to build up confidence is necessary, IMO. --Skire (talk) 01:43, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
nah Dead Gunner's SMG JPG1 "Float" 02:03, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
My experience with For NCR has been up and down. I've kicked him myself for misconduct and witnessed countless warnings in his past, so I'm not inclined to out-right ignore it for the assumption of "what if he had good behaviour". Right now I've got to base my knowledge on the impression he's left, and it's not a good one, so if this was October the 11th and he has not shown and deviation from the mindset he first entered chat with then my vote would still stand as a no, possibly even a stronger no.
