Hello! I'm TwoBearsHigh-Fiving, also know as Ryan, or as my co-workers like to call me, Fryin' Ryan (a joke that comes from a colorful apron I wear to work). Today I have decided to apply for moderatorship. I will try to make my application as brief as I possiby can so as to not waste your valuable time!

Why?

Ahh, the why of it? 'Tis a good question, no? Well, the main reason that I am going to be applying for this is for the instant power to undo edits. A fair majority of my edits come from undoing bad edits. It becomes quite tedious to undo edits while going through the edit screen everytime. I would also love to work with the chat, I am not a big talker on there, I will not lie and say I am, but if I am granted this status, I will make sure that no trollers or negative nancys will be running the chat on my watch.

Now, why do you want me?

Why would you want me, TwoBears, to become a moderator? If you asked me, I would tell you that I'm honest, and I like to do good work on here. Another plus that would come to having me as a moderator is because I live in the United States. I have noticed that many moderators and administrators live in Europe and abroad. I find myself on at times when authority is not present. I feel this will greatly benefit the wikia to have someone with authority present in this time-zone.

What have I done to deserve this?!

There a couple contributions that I have made on here that I think will make a good example of why I may deserve this:

1. Under the guidance of Jspoelstra, I underwent the extremely long and tedious task of going through the articles of the Boulder City Memorial and removed the Human:Characters category from all of the unknown veterans. This is because the NCR recruited both ghoul and humans. As you could imagine, this took quite awhile.

2. I went through many of the NPC's with the affiliation titled 'himself' and changed that incorrect affiliation to 'none' As you can also imagine, this took quite a bit as well. I am partway done with the 'Herselfs'. I can expect to finish this soon.

3. I have reverted a good many of bad edits. I am also non-discriminating. Just because I see an anon edit does not mean I automatically undo it, I really look at it to decide its validity.

My edits

There should have been a list of this user's edit counts here, but the edit counts feature is no longer available.

Closing time

Well, that's all I have for you, I really hope you read through this and decide if you feel I am worthy or not for this great position. If not, well, there still is much work I can offer to this site. Thanks, HighFiveBearLeftHighFiveBearRight 18:16, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes Your post count is close to the line... but you've talked me into a yes vote. Agent c 22:16, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • Yes Alright then, it seems like you're doing some good work here. Jol87 22:27, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No I have never seen you before. --Valoopy sig ☢Valoopy☣ 22:30, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No I've never seen you much on chat, nor do we need anymore moderators. Pat Gif dancinggir testHugz for GIR? ;3 22:37, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No You're making great progress, don't get me wrong, but I feel that you haven't made much of an impact on the Wiki, and is lacking some in experience. For example, one of your motivations are that with these new tools you wouldn't have to navigate through the revert window every time you revert. Thing is that roll back is to be used very sparingly, only if you need to revert multiple bad edits in a row, you should still add a reason for reverts. I also don't think that you've made an impact on the community, as I don't see you being part of community discussions, or participating in chat. Keep working and you'll make it sooner or later, I just think you're a tad too inexperienced as it is. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
  • No Though you have certainly hit the editorial requirements for such a position, you have not been active enough in the community; either the blog posts or Vault Chat. Due to this you would be ill suited for a moderator position. Gothic Neko :3 talk 22:38, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • Yes Personally, I don't place much faith in raw edit counts, unless there is some way to subtract out reverted/undone changes. I've watched TwoBears for a while and our paths have crossed a few times. I see he produces quality work, save for the very rare "un-do a vandal undo", about which we both had a good laugh. As I've previously mentioned, I don't use Chat but, as a rollbacker and patroller on serveral wikis, I know how much time and trouble can be saved by having those user rights (and, frankly, I wish they were granted separately from the ChatMod rights). I don't believe he'll misuse the tools given him, so I say aye. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 22:41, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No Sorry. Not enough edits, you're not really a chat regular either.JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 22:49, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No I have never really spoken to you or seen you in chat to warrent you being a chat mod. If you appeared more regularly (and I understand this isn't an option for some people) then my vote would be different. However, considering the above, I must decline "Even In Death May You Be Triumphant" 23:25, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • No Though I understand you only want Mod status to revert bad edits, being a Chat Moderator requires some significant time in the Chat room. Even so, keep up the good work and come talk to the other users every so often. Hopefully by then you will qualify for the job. • No I'm sorry, I've never really seen you on chat and I'm on there a lot. You seem like a nice guy and all, but that's really not enough to qualify for moderatorship. Maybe you'd be better off applying for rollback status? Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk

@Pat I don't believe that's the complete story. Quoting from VA:ADMIN:
"Moderator powers are rolling back edits with just one click, banning users from chat and marking edits as patrolled."
I believe that means that, in The Vault, the Moderator user role includes the standard MediaWiki userrights of Rollbacker and Patroller, in addition to the Wikia ChatMod privilege.
Someone please correct me if I've read the page wrong. Thanks! — UncleBubba T @ C ) 22:55, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
You read that wrong. He still should be in chat, it's the main power he has for a moderator. Pat Gif dancinggir testHugz for GIR? ;3
Really? I don't understand why you're discounting the rolling back edits with just one click and marking edits as patrolled part of the VA:ADMIN doc. Those rights are extremely useful for a recent-changes or anti-vandal patroller.
Sorry to disagree with you, but I think I read it right. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 23:06, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── "Well, the main reason that I am going to be applying for this is for the instant power to undo edits. A fair majority of my edits come from undoing bad edits. It becomes quite tedious to undo edits while going through the edit screen everytime." This is what made me decide. Rollback is really only intended to be used when reverting a mass of bad edits in a row, which mostly occurs with vandalism. You would still need to go through the "tedious" process of revertion as when rollbacking you will have no ability to explain the revertion through the edit summary, something vitally important, as there will be no ability to dispute the revert, which interferes with the Wikia "transparency". Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

...and I respect your opinion on that--you explained it well.
I was responding to someone who implied I was high because I see the rollbacker/patroller user rights as distinct from ChatMod. I find it quite plausible that there are active users of The Vault who never enter the chat rooms, and vice-versa.
If I held Moderator status, I would occasionally use the rollbacker and patroller rights but would probably never exercise the ChatMod privilege, because real-time chat just isn't something I do very often. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 23:38, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
That's why he should appeal for rollback status, so that he still has access to rollback if he ever needs it but he doesn't have the unnecessary chat moderator status (if he won't be using it) Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk
Didn't know the rollbacker right was given out by itself. VA:ADMIN seems to say it isn't but, hey, docs have been wrong before! (Sigh...) — UncleBubba T @ C ) 08:57, October 17, 2011 (UTC)
