Why do we still have pages like Laser rifle (Fallout 4)? It's the exact same weapon as Laser pistol (Fallout 4). Paladin117>>iff bored; 20:30, November 29, 2015 (UTC)

Because they're separate weapons in the lore and should be treated as separate weapons in the game. The pistol perks don't work with the laser rifle and Commando or Rifleman won't work with the pistol. If the laser rifle wasn't already an established weapon in the fallout series, we'd include it as a pistol modification, but cut simply, it is important to the lore and makes it easier for users to find what they need. We don't even know if they're the same weapons in the lore as in previous games. There's also perks that only work if you're moving or not moving, should we have different pages on the different type of movement? Also, how does having two pages with similar content make things easier for people? It's just confusing. Paladin117>>iff bored; 12:30, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Paladin--this game treats lore different. It makes sense to state that in the article and have some redirects to cope with it, but they're the same weapon in this game. Treating it different would be like having an article for a combat rifle with and without a bayonet. Bodhisattvah (talk) 20:50, April 21, 2017 (UTC)
There is something else that needs to be considered with the Fallout 4 weapons, they have been heavy changed in how they function and their stats themselves. For someone who has an idea of FO3 and FO4 weapons, they should be able to discern easily what refers to which game (crafting, modification, condition), but for someone with very little idea they would really need to read the article to find what they want.
