Proposal[]
The current layout guideline for creature articles does not include a section for notable specimens although most of articles about creatures or robots have this section. I propose to add this add this optional section to the layout guideline. It is not a necessary section on most cross-games articles but we are using it more and more on creature articles that are linked to a specific game.
I suggest that when we use this section inside an article, we sort the notable specimens by:
- Base game.
- Add-on to the base-game.
- Alphabetically.
The Notable specimens section is usually place between the Variants and the Related quests sections.
This is what the new entry would look like inside the layout guideline:
Item-specific layout items | |||
---|---|---|---|
Layout item | Headline | Required | Explanation |
Lead section | Short summary that usually looks something like this:
"{{PAGENAME}} is a creature living in the Capital Wasteland of 2277." In general, it should contain:
| ||
Background | If there is any background story/history for the creature. | ||
Characteristics | Characteristics of this creature. | ||
→ Biology/Specifications | In-universe characteristics of the creature, such as its physical attributes, behavior or habitat in general terms.
The section should be called "Biology" for organic creatures and "Specifications" for mechanical creatures (e.g. robots). | ||
→ Gameplay attributes | Game-specific characteristics of the creature. For example, details about the creature's attacks or attack patterns should be placed here. | ||
Variants | Variants/subspecies of this creature. A sub-section (with the name of the variant) should be made for each variant.
Each variant sub-section should contain:
| ||
Notable specimens | Notable specimens of this creature/robot. The most notable specimens can pretend to a subsection or a short description.
The specimens should be sorted in this order:
| ||
Related quests | If there are quests which are related to this creature, list them here (just link them, no need to go into detail). | ||
Notes | For interesting things about the creature which do not fit into the other categories. Try to keep this section to a minimum. | ||
Appearances | Which games/add-ons this creature appears in. |
(Someone better with words could rephrase it.)

- If other article formats have their own standards, I don't see why we should not do the same for Creatures. ---bleep196- (talk) 16:05, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

- Even for something minor policy says we need at least 10 votes to change the policy... I added 5 days to the vote.--YOD ●︿● 23:46, July 11, 2016 (UTC)
