Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > Automatic categorization for interactions

I was wondering whether we should use the character interaction templates (like {{Interactions FO3}} to automatically categorize characters by how the player can interact with them. What I mean by "automatic categorization" is that the interaction template would automatically add e.g. Category:Fallout 3 doctors to a page if a character can either restore HP, purge radiation or remove addictions.

Currently, this is done by adding categories like Category:Fallout 3 doctors manually, but I figure an automatic categorization would save us quite a bit of workload. On a sidenote, we still need interaction templates for FO2 and FOT (although the former will probably be rather similar to {{Interactions FO1}}). Thoughts? -- Porter21 (talk) 23:12, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

There are not really any different fields to include, or take away, from the Template:Interactions FO1 to make it work for Fallout 2. Unless anyone can think of any reason to make a separate one, then it might as well work for both Fallout and Fallout 2 articles. Example, on Tandi's NPC article, I used the template for the interactions sections for both games.
About Tactics, I wouldn't know because I stopped playing after the first mission. :P Ghouly89 (Talk) 23:17, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
Well, if we decide to use automatic categorization, that would be a reason to have separate templates. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:28, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
Okay then. We will copy the {{Template:Interactions FO1}}, and just make the differences that for Fallout 1, the page is classified under Fallout categories, and so on for Fallout 2. However, I will leave that insta-categorization up to you, I still don't know "html" well enough to work with those Interactions templates yet ;) Ghouly89 (Talk) 23:40, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
