I've added a new script from the developer wiki, ArchiveTool, to our site. It allows for easier archiving of talk pages, i.e. instead of manually copy/pasting the content to a new page and adding the {{Archives}} and {{Archivepage}} templates you can simply select the talk page sections you want to archive and the script will do the rest :) This is done via a new button in the page bar called "Archive" which will show up on talk pages.

There is a small bug with the script not detecting existing {{Archives}} templates on the talk page if the existing template call is lowercase (i.e. "{{archives}}" instead of "{{Archives}}"), causing the template to be present twice on the page, but that can be easily fixed and you should run into it less and less frequently over time.

Just a little heads-up :) -- Porter21 (talk) 09:46, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Oasis updateEdit

Since the script's author seems to have become one of the many casualties caused by the FaceWikiShack skin, I've decided to try adding Oasis and Monobook support to this script myself. I've also tried fixing the bug where the script did not recognize that there's already an archive list on the page (resulting in a duplicate {{Archives}} being inserted) and added an "Abort" button.

My modified version is now live here on the site. Please let me know if you into any bugs so I can fix them :) -- Porter21 (talk) 14:12, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Really nice work Porter. I assume you'll be working on fixing grayed out edit buttons on archived pages next? --Light Daxter - Talk 14:30, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it's in the queue ;) -- Porter21 (talk) 15:43, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
While you're at it, what else is in that queue? I really like the toolbar buttons (where did they go now?) and was wondering if you have any other surprises or ideas left. --Light Daxter - Talk 16:56, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
The toolbar buttons are still in the same place as before. The reason why you're not seeing them anymore is that I moved the script call from my local JS to my global JS on central so I can use it on all wikis; as you're importing my (now empty) local JS into yours, the buttons don't show anymore. If you use the instructions in the other thread they should work fine :)
Regarding the "queue", nothing major in it as far as the new skin is concerned - I'll patch up the archive edit disabler, (maybe) rewrite the script for the title icons to make it more efficient and look for ways to improve the placement of the AjaxRC box. Afterwards I'll start finishing up my various personal projects like {{Infobox new}} etc. -- Porter21 (talk) 18:23, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

If I had known you were working on this I woulda held off on archiving my talk page manually :) It'll need it again soon. --Kris User Hola 17:21, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
